Care Innovations College
Our continuing education program trains our caregivers to provide exceptional care, service, and hospitality. Throughout their employment with us, they will participate in a variety of different classes.
Our ongoing curriculum includes:
Skills Refinement
When hired, all of our caregivers have a wealth of experience and training. Our caregivers participate in our skills refinement class, which is a hands-on lab where they learn our preferred methods of providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADL). ADL assistance includes bathing, dressing, transfer, and bed bath among others.
Dementia Care
One of the most important tools our memory care caregivers have is our Book of Me. The Book of Me is a booklet of questions about our client and their life. It is always a work in progress as we continually add to it while we grow to know our client or when our client’s needs change. Our class includes: how to discover information to add to the booklet as well as how to use it in all our daily interactions.
Nutrition & Culinary Training
Nutrition and an uplifting dining experience is an essential part of keeping our clients healthy. We cover everything from food safety and special diets to recipes and table settings. We know that our clients are more likely to sit down to a well prepared, nicely presented meal. We also want to assist our clients who still enjoy cooking to be able to do so safely and with the proper assistance.
Activities
Helping our clients live life to the fullest requires our caregivers to learn how to plan daily, client-based activities. Our caregivers learn how to plan daily activities based on the client's abilities, desires, and interests. We not only assist with shopping, and appointments, we also organize outings to parks, museums, movies, and galleries. We also plan at-home activities including fitness classes, music and pet therapy, crafts, parties, tastings, and “couch–gate” sports parties.
Hospitality
We instruct our caregivers on how to anticipate our client's needs and exceed their expectations. In order to do that, we must learn the etiquette and lifestyle components our clients are accustomed to. Whether it is answering a home phone correctly, preparing a breakfast tray, or setting a table with china and silver, we try to cover it all
